Suleyman Art: One-on-One with the Winter Sea – From Study to Life a
Hello, friends! I’m Suleyman.
For us painters, the studio is not everything. The real colors, the real light, and the true feeling exist outside the studio door. This time I want to share with you one of my most difficult, yet most unforgettable plein-air (outdoor) painting experiences.
The Sound of the Waves Is My Music – Notes from My Winter Seaside Study
🌬️ In the Harsh Embrace of Nature
Today the weather was cold and the wind was sharp. The clouds hung low, and the sea seemed to throw all its strength against the shore. While many people would prefer to stay home with a warm cup of tea in such weather, I couldn’t resist capturing this wild energy on canvas. Moments like these give me inspiration I could never fully find in the studio.
As you can see, I’m dressed warmly, wearing a hat. This is not only to protect myself from the cold but also to maintain concentration. Painting by the sea is challenging; the wind shakes my brush, sand and salty water move through the air. Yet it is exactly these difficulties that give the study a special energy.
🎨 Capturing the Moment with Color
My goal was to quickly transfer the temperature, sound, and emotion of the moment onto a small canvas.
The Color of the Rocks
How does the color of seaweed and water reflect on the wet rocks? These are details that can only truly be observed on site, in the presence of nature.
💡 Why Plein-Air Is So Important
For me, these studies are where my spirit is nourished. When I hear the sound of the sea and feel the purity of the wind, it’s as if a bridge forms between the canvas and nature. In the studio I recall these feelings to create larger works, but the true source of knowledge is out here.
If you also practice painting, my advice is simple: no matter the weather, take your easel and go outside. Endurance and courage are always rewarded in art.
I am sure the energy of this study will soon come alive on a much larger canvas. Follow the website and our social media to watch this process unfold.

Stay with art,
The Power of Blue and Grey
A winter sea and cloudy sky are never simply grey or blue. On the palette you can see the cool cobalt blues of the sky, the violet tones reflecting the depths of the sea, and the pure whites of the foaming waves.
Working Fast
When painting plein-air, remember: the light constantly changes. I work with quick and confident brushstrokes so I don’t lose the main tones and atmosphere. This study is not just a sketch for a larger painting—it is the feeling itself.
